Klack alternative for Mac

Buy Klack if you want keyboard sounds and nothing else. Klack is the specialist. Topline plays a mechanical klack too, and it is the worse choice when that is the whole job. Topline is the one to look at when the same Mac should also show Spotify or Apple Music and a Pomodoro timer.

The search spelled klacky

Klacky is not a second app. It is how people type Klack. The site is tryklack.com. Klack lives in the menu bar and plays a switch recording when you type.

A different product spells it Klakk, with two k's, at tryklakk.com. Klakk's own site says the two are separate apps from different developers. Klakk lists 14 sound packs, a Mac app and a Windows app, a 3-day trial, and then US$4.49 once per platform for the website edition. The App Store edition is a separate license. If the tab you wanted was Klakk, this page is the wrong one, and so is Topline.

Where Klack is the better app

Klack's site currently shows seven switch sets: Japanese Black, Crystal Purple, Oreo, Cardboard, Milky Yellow, Super Red, and Cream. Those names point at real switch families. The homepage markets spatial audio, a sound on the key down and the key up, and randomized pitch. The changelog adds mouse click sounds (1.7), sleep triggers for screen sharing, Focus, media, and calendar (2.1), and scroll sounds with haptic ticks (2.2, July 21, 2026).

Klack's FAQ says there are two versions, a standalone license and an App Store version. They are sold separately. Buying one does not unlock the other, and the standalone version can include features the App Store build is not allowed to ship. Podfeet, on October 11, 2026, described it as a $5 one-time menu-bar app. Check tryklack.com before you pay. The number moves.

Klack's FAQ says Klack adds no latency of its own, and that Bluetooth does. That is Klack's claim about Klack. Topline does not publish a latency number, so this page will not invent a race.

Topline does not do the keyboard job as fully:

You can hear Topline's styles on the keyboard page before you buy anything. Hear Klack's previews on Klack's site too. If one of those seven sets is the sound you already want, get that app.

Where Topline is a different purchase

Topline is $4.99 once for the whole Mac app, macOS 15 or later, on the way to the Mac App Store. The key sounds are included. They are not the reason to buy it.

The bar shows the song playing in the Spotify app or in Apple Music, with play, pause, skip, seek, and volume. It can switch the Mac's speakers, including AirPlay. A timer on the left runs 5 to 90 minutes, then a 5-minute break. The timer does not start or stop the key sounds, and it does not start or stop your music. Undertone, a coffee shop and a few wordless rooms, sits on the same bar and is also separate from the timer.

Klack's site does not describe any of that. If you already own Klack and you like it, keep it. Topline does not replace it. Running both is a reasonable setup: Klack for the keys, Topline for the song and the clock. You would be paying for two apps because they do two jobs.

Questions

Is Topline a Klack alternative?

Only if you want more than keyboard sounds. Klack is a Mac menu-bar app whose job is keystroke sound: key-down and key-up, mouse clicks, scroll ticks, and sleep triggers. Topline plays a key-down sample in nine styles, stays off until you turn it on, and does not play on key-up, on the mouse, or on scroll. Topline also puts Spotify, Apple Music, and a Pomodoro timer on one bar. If the keyboard is the only thing you wanted, buy Klack.

What does klacky mean?

Klacky is how people search for Klack, the Mac keyboard sound app at tryklack.com. It is not a separate product. Klakk, spelled with two k's, is a different app from a different developer, at tryklakk.com. Topline is neither of them.

Does Topline sound better than Klack?

This page does not claim that. Klack sells its own switch sets, plays a sound on the way up and the way down, and markets spatial audio. Topline uses nine styles of key-down recordings. Hear both. Topline does not publish a latency number. Klack says it adds none, and that Bluetooth does.

Does Klack control Spotify or run a Pomodoro timer?

Klack's site describes a keyboard sound app. It does not describe Spotify controls, Apple Music controls, or a Pomodoro timer. Those are on Topline's bar. Topline's timer does not start or stop the key sounds, and the key sounds do not start the music.

If the keyboard is the purchase, get Klack.
